Bowerbird Home began in 2023 in Seattle, founded by Grace and Erik—partners in life and in a shared passion for design, craft, and meaningful objects. In 2025, they brought their vision to Detroit—Grace’s home state—to grow in a city celebrated for its history, resilience, and creativity.
Grace is a Michigan native, eighth-generation to a farmhouse and homestead an hour west of Detroit that has been in her family for over 175 years. A weaver and artist, she brings a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, texture, and the stories objects carry into every space. Growing up surrounded by home, history, and a strong sense of family and community, she developed a love for creating spaces that feel personal, grounded, and full of meaning.
Erik’s lifelong love of interiors led him into a career in interior photography, where he further fell in love with design. He’s lived in DC, New York, Sweden, Seattle, and now Detroit, and those years—especially in Sweden—shaped an aesthetic rooted in Scandinavian simplicity with a deep appreciation for storied, character-rich pieces. With a strong eye for design and deep knowledge of carpets and furniture, he’s especially adept at sourcing thoughtful pieces that truly fit a space.
